Sweet Spanish Learning Module – Family

Foundation

Instruction begins with the alphabet and the vowels, presented as a reference
chart rather than as an assessment. Each letter is shown with its Spanish name
and an indication of pronunciation; selecting a letter produces the
pronunciation for the learner to repeat, and selecting the accompanying word
demonstrates the letter within ordinary usage. Spanish has five vowel sounds,
each of which is pronounced consistently, and familiarity with them is what
permits a learner to read unfamiliar words aloud.

Scope of practice

Writing: vocabulary, gendered articles, verb endings, sentence completion,
sentence construction, numbers and dates, and accents and spelling.

Listening: vocabulary, everyday phrases, numbers and time, letters spelled
aloud, and vowel sounds.

Speaking: vocabulary, everyday phrases, and passage reading.

Accents

The entry of accented characters is not required at any point. A correctly
spelled word submitted without its accent is accepted, and the accented form is
displayed for reference.
